Our Clergy
Update from the Wardens and Vestry of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Lake Luzerne
At the end of June 2024, our beloved Fr. Lou Midura resigned after three years as our rector, and he and Patty relocated to Rhode Island due to a family situation.
While the reason for his resignation was completely understood and supported by the Vestry and parishioners, their departure caused great sadness among us.
Nonetheless, through God’s grace and the efforts of our parish family, the worship and work of St. Mary’s have continued unabated in the months since.
St. Mary’s is now well into the search process for a new rector. Our Community Portfolio was sent to the diocese on November 13. We are now taking the next step, the Parish Survey, which will be in the hands of all our members for completion on or about December 1, 2024.
Meanwhile, the Parish has continued to move ahead worshipping God with all of our hearts, minds and strength. We have been blessed by being extremely well served by several deacons and priests for the Sunday services, including Deacon Barbara Mitchell whom the Bishop Ordinary assigned to the parish in late June just before Fr. Lou left. Dcn. Barbara officiates Communion from the Reserved Sacrament on the first Sunday of each month and has been leading that service followed by a lectionary study on Wednesday mornings. She has become much involved in other worship and other ministries of the parish. We are exceedingly thankful for this.
The Wardens and Vestry, as the Ecclesiastical Authority of the St. Mary’s whilst we have no rector, have been blessed with great unity as we have, by the help of God the Holy Trinity, led the parish in continuing to feed the hungry in body, mind and spirit through Christ’s love.
As we wait on the Lord to show us who is to be our next Rector, please pray this prayer with us each day:
“Dear Lord, give our hearts eyes to see the inward appearance of your priestly choice for us. Help us not to just see them from the outside, but by the Spirit you have put within them. Help us jointly discern whom you want for St. Mary’s. In Jesus’ Holy Name! AMEN!”
